Well known for precisely built luxury cars, Mercedes Benz has a loyal following content with its traditional profile – solid and impressive, albeit a bit blocky. However, the Mercedes Benz CLK-Class was designed to address that segment of luxury car buyer looking to benefit from Mercedes excellence and character, but wanting more adventurous design aesthetic. Debuting as a coupe and later offered as a convertible, the CLK fused a shapely body with four-seat practicality, while not sending the price out of reach. The risk worked, and the CLK’s popularity was immediate. Presenting with polite road manners, a healthy dose of sportiness and the requisite Mercedes-Benz elegance, and esteem, a quality pre-owned CLK is certainly worth considering.
The first born Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class was manufactured as a coupe from 1998-2002; and the convertible was produced from 1999-2003. This generation was stable and confident on the road, and the CLK55 AMG coupe was the quickest production Benz in history to date, hitting 60 mph in 5 seconds flat. All models featured standard leather, dual-zone automatic climate control, SmartKey keyless entry, and a Bose cassette stereo. The first model alterations appeared in 1999 models, when stability control became standard on the CLK430 and optional on the CLK320. In 2000 this safety feature became standard on all models, as did Mercedes’ new TeleAid emergency communications system.
The second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class (2003-2009) was originally offered as a coupe (CLK320, CLK500, CLK55 AMG). All three were offered as convertibles by 2004. In 2008, the AMG coupe was available in a limited-edition “Black Series”, and utilized a 500-hp V8, a track-tuned suspension and a six-figure price tag. Standard features worthy of mention on the CLK included alloy wheels and leather upholstery; popular options included a sport appearance package, a navigation system, an upgraded Harman Kardon audio system and keyless ignition. The CLK cabin was open and spacious, due to their B-pillarless design.
After a 12-year model run, Mercedes replaced the CLK with the similar E-Class coupe and convertible. Still, the CLK remains an appealing pre-owned option – it is agile, comfortable, and plenty quick. There is a lot to like about the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, especially if you covet the experience of owning a Benz. There is also a lot to like about Major World, where you can purchase a CLK-Class, or any other quality pre-owned Mercedes with no hassle and no stress!
